Things I'd like to do less of

In no particular order...

  • Staying late at work.

  • If I guard and manage my time better (and get better at saying no), I won't have to do this.

  • Related: Defaulting to "yes" when someone asks for help. While my intentions are good, it leads to immense stress later not only for me but for members of my team and family who rely on me. I will make everyone's life better when I become more judicious about the things to which I give my time away.

  • Staying silent when I want to say something.

  • Going to bed without planning the specifics of my next day

  • I like to "go with the flow" as much as the next guy, but I also like to get things done. Adding some intention each night to apply to my next day has been a very effective way for me to do that.

  • Meditating without a clear intention.

  • Yes, it has been helpful for my mind and body still, but when I set my aim toward a certain outcome (yes, even in meditation - it's complicated), I've found myself to get deeper, go farther, and develop more in my practice.
