Spiderman had it backwards

This quote didn't originate with Spiderman. But it was popularized by the series, in the form of Uncle Ben's now famous words to his young, bright-eyed nephew Peter:

With great power comes great responsibility.

The idea was evidently introduced during the French Revolution c. 1973. Like all the hits, it has since earned covers from luminaries abound, including Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, and Churchill, who yarned, “the price of greatness is responsibility.”

It’s true. When you have more power, you have more influence over the movement of the world. After all, we are each figuring it out as we go along. And we each move the world ever so slightly in a certain direction with our every action, every day.

Though true, the quote's converse rings just as true.

With great responsibility comes great power.

If you want to become more powerful, try becoming more responsible. See if that doesn’t get you closer to where you want to be.

h/t Jim Kwik for illuminating this lovely insight for me.
