Ah, Email Marketing: one of my greatest professional loves.

It allows for a 1-1 connection the way no other channel does, save SMS. A bottom-of-funnel darling. A key to nurturing your community and proving you care, over and over again.

I've written hundreds of emails for a range of audiences both B2B and B2C. The small collection below includes examples from throughout the funnel including transactional, promotional, new customer welcome, newsletter, nurture and more.

Can you spot these Email Marketing principles as you peruse the emails below?
  • visual hierarchy and rhythm

  • human-based imagery (hardwired to grab our attention)

  • colorful buttons that pop, making them easy to find and click

  • bullets and numbered lists (which make the text more pleasant and readable)

  • use of brand elements (logos, icons, font color, button color, tone, and more)

  • for emails with more text, note the design choices to improve comprehensibility and info retention: spacing, use of headers, background boxes, horizontal bars, icons; all the classic design staples that just work
